Today I made for you a Tag using Bombshell Stamps Butterfly Queen and Altered Pages Victorian Butterflies!  I really had fun making this tag, the butterflies on the Altered Pages collage sheet are wonderful, and you all know I LOVE my Bombshells!!!

The tag is colored with color wash ink sprays in stream and denim, Dylusions in Turquoise, and Pearl Glimmer Mist.  I then fussy cut the butterflies off of the AP Collage sheet and glued them down with matte medium, then while the medium was still wet I sprayed again with the Pearl Glimmer Mist.  I popped the Bombshell off the page with pop dots then went around each butterfly with my white pen with a straight line outline and a dotted outline. I sprayed the ribbon with the stream color wash and attached it to the tag! I hope you enjoy!

Your next stop on the hop is Leslie Rahye.

Here's the blog hop order in case you get lost or feel like hopping around randomly!

Reflections

It's the day before school starts for my youngest and I sit here alone, because the kids are still sleeping, with my thoughts.  I seem to get emotional before school starts because I just don't want them to be away from me... yes they sleep way longer than I do, but then again most people do!!  but I know that they are here, upstairs, in their rooms and when they wake up they come down and give me hugs and sit with me or beg to go somewhere... I just miss them when they are at school, or gone from me no matter where they are!!

So on this day before my BABY starts high school I sit reflecting, drinking coffee and facebooking...thinking what a major milestone this is in both of our lives.  My oldest graduated high school last year and is starting college and those in and of themselves are major milestones, but today is not the day to reflect on her, because she is still home with me until monday!!!  So watch out for monday!  LOL  Back to the boy... as I said this is a major milestone!  I mean come on it HIGH SCHOOL!!!

Why does this make me emotional?  Here's a little story for you...

A few years ago, after we retired from the Navy and settled where we are now, I realized I was in a downward spiral and I wasn't doing anyone any good.  I had heard of art journaling and seen a metricbuttton of videos on different techniques and ways to do things. So I started playing around with the different techniques I saw, but could never really connect... UNTIL I found EFFY... Effy Wild and the glitterhood, which most of you know is kinda funny because I really really don't like glitter!!! LOL  BUT Effy, she helped me a lot... she was real, more real than most of the others I had seen or tried, I know weird huh?  BUT most of you know that you have connected with someone you have never met before on some level that has helped you!!!  Anyway, during one of Effy's classes she prompted us to talk about, look for, believe in Ordinary Miracles.  So as I am thinking on this subject, because most of her subjects make you think, I realize I don't have to look very far to find an ordinary miracle... I gave birth to one!!!  Now before you go off thinking I am just an over proud mommy, I am, but this is why I think Hunter is an ordinary miracle...
We had Jewel really easily, got pregnant soon after we got married, no problems with the pregnancy nothing..easy peasy right!!! we got pregnant again, when she was less than a year old, but unfortunatly we lost that baby. so a couple of years later when we decided to do it again we didn't think we would have any problems, well we did, we tried for a year with no luck then we went the fertility drug route and eventually we got pregnant, super exciting yeah!!!  This pregnancy was so hard, I was sick all the time, I had gestational diabetes, lot's of things happening, then I almost lost him, they call it placenta previa, where the placenta starts separating and that is not a good thing, so bed rest and meds it was for me, which is hard in the military world with a almost 4 year old!!!  BUT you do what you have to do for your kidlings right?!?!?

So long story short, it's a miracle he is here and I am grateful everyday that he is... So this is the art journal page that came from that prompting, my not so ordinary miracle!

Visits from wonderful Friends

Oh what a wonderful past couple of days it has been!!!  The Heikkila family came for a visit and we had a blast!!! Alison and I have been friends for some time but don't have the opportunity to get together very often, because she is in NY and I am in VA, so when we do even for only a couple of days, it is phenomenal!!!

While they were here we went to the zoo and had a little tailgate picnic and a wonderful time... the kids rode elephants, it was wonderful!!!  I miss them already!! We are already brainstorming for our next get together!!

Here are a few of the coolest pictures from the zoo:

Today's project is from Lisa Perez:

Pity Party Swap Goodies #1

Hello Lovelies,  This month I am going to be participating the a blog-a-long with Effy Wild.  She said that it had been so long since she blogged that she wanted to do it and have friends do it with her so I said why not, we all know I can, I mean I have done 31 Days of Halloween since it's inception so the month of August should not be a problem right?  Well at least I hope not!!!  Anyway why should I just keep it to one month a year... Does this mean that I will be posting something everyday of the year... probably NOT but it does mean that I will try to be better at posting...

Last month I signed up to be part of a pity party swap... OK background info... I am in a yahoo group called PennyWiseArts...  They are a lovely bunch of ladies!  Anyway every year there is a retreat which I would love to go to, it's in my favorite state at my 2nd favorite time of year, but alas, I didn't know of this group when I lived in this state... Washington State.  So of course I have not been able to go to a retreat.  At these retreats every person going designs a project and provides all the major supplies for everyone attending to make this project.  So those of us who can't make it to the yearly retreat started doing a Pity Party Swap so that we could feel like a part of the retreat too!
This year we had 11 participants including myself so i thought that I would make a project from the Pity party swap on the days when I don't have Design team projects to post so that you could see what we have been up to!

So here goes,   This project is from: Becky Hoerr!  She gave us everything except the markers to color the image with and I used Distress Markers to color mine.  The instructions said to cut the image into 4 pieces when you were done coloring and that is a great idea except for, a) I only had scissors and b) I couldn't cut a straight line with scissors if you paid me to, so there you have a whole image!!!
